Be Featured | Natalie Gingrich
"Be Featured" shares the inspiring stories of people who are approaching life with passion, energy and a desire to leave the world better than how they found it. We all have unique journeys, but many of us share similar pinpoints that connect us and give us an opportunity to better understand and appreciate those around us.
"Be Featured" is a collection of those stories and this is one of them.
Natalie Gingrich is the founder and leading mom over at More Mom Movement, she is a bad-ass business lady, mom and wife. She has been an inspiration in my life and I'm so happy that she agreed to "Be Featured" on Eating Clean, Cooking Dirty.
Everyone has a unique journey, share a little bit about you and your journey.
I grew up in a single parent home. My mom ran a successful and bustling business, which was wonderful, but it left me in charge of my sister most days of the week. Our dinners included Totinos pizzas, lots and lots of cheesy fingered Doritos, and infinite boxes of Lucky Charms. When I met my husband and was exposed to his family, I learned clean, healthy, and whole eating. I generally felt better...and 100% looked better. I enjoyed cooking with real ingredients and knowing where my food came from. I knew I wanted to share that gift with my children.
What role had food played in your journey?
Yikes. Honestly, I was a ballerina. Food was my enemy and my illness (anorexia and bulimia) for decades. I just didn't realize that I wasn't eating the right things. But I love food and I love the creative expression of cooking. It's now a therapeutic and life-giving art that I get to express and share with my family and friends.
What challenges have you faced when it comes to maintaining or improving your overall health?
Most certainly, portion control and unnecessary dairy. (I LOVE cheese but things can taste soooo good in its absence.)
How to do stay active? What kinds of workouts or activities do you enjoy?
At this time, I'm not training for anything. I've been a ballerina, an athlete, and run several half marathons. When I'm training, I feel best. I need to get back to that. I love walking (and running), group exercise classes, and boot camp-style workouts.
How did you find out about Eating Clean, Cooking Dirty?
I crossed paths with Sam in the business world and I honestly felt an instant connection to what she offers, even before I knew we'd be friends. I knew my family needed this nutrition and I loved how equipped she (and her product) allowed me to be in this process.
Do you Meal Prep regularly? When do you do it? Is it a family activity, or something you do alone?
We meal prep about 2x/month. Our kids are super duper active so most weekends are spent at a gymnasium or baseball diamond. We are a two income home so we're both employed full time. When we're home on a Sunday, we're prepping. I occasionally include my daughter in the prep, but everyone participates in the "day of" prep.

How has Meal Prep supported your health and wellness journey?
The structure of meal prep is priceless. It allows us to have food prepared when we are shuffling between school and extracurricular activities, with proper nutrition. We ALL feel better when we're eating off of these menus.
