Pineapple Teriyaki Burger

At the end of this week, we are moving back to Hood River.  I think we will be back in Portland eventually, but at the moment, Hood River is the best place for our family.  The move makes me not want to cook.  But, we are still a week out, so I can't exactly go on strike.  This recipe was last nights dinner and OMG was it lovely.

Burgers are a simple quick and delicious meal to serve your family; just take out the buns.  It is a meal that I can guarantee everyone at my table will eat.  The juiciness is something that, even writing this, makes my mouth water.  The All American treat.

The teriyaki sauce is a Paleo recipe from a previous blog post.  However, if you simple can't deal with making a sauce from scratch, just pick one up from the store.  You don't need much, about 1 TBS per person.  While I prefer Paleo sauces when I can get them, I totally get that sometimes there just isn't time to deal.

Pineapple Teriyaki Burger


  • 1.25-1.5 LBS Lean Ground Beef
  • 3-4 Pineapple Rounds (1/2 a Pineapple)
  • 1/4 Cup Teriyaki Sauce
  • 3 Cups Greens of Choice
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste


In a bowl, combine ground beef, 2 TBS of teriyaki sauce, salt and pepper to taste.  Make burgers.

Slice pineapple into 1/2" thick rounds.

Put teriyaki sauce in a sauce pan and heat over low heat to reduce to a thickness that will coat a spoon.  (About 8 Minutes)

Take out your plates.  Divide greens evenly between plates.

Heat the BBQ, or a grill pan to medium-high heat.  Cook burgers to desired doneness.  Place burgers on top of green.

Place pineapple on the grill and cook for 3 minutes on each sides.

Top burger with the pineapple.  Drizzle teriyaki sauce over the burgers.

Serve with sweet potato fries.
